February 26–28, 2025: Meeting of the Amilcar Cabral Project Expert Committee on the Draft Agreement and the approval of the Phase 1 technical study report

Experts from the member states involved in the Amilcar Cabral submarine cable project (Cape Verde, Guinea, Liberia, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Liberia), the ECOWAS Commission, the PPDU, and their technical and financial partners will meet from February 26 to 28, 2025, in Banjul (Gambia) to review the memorandum of understanding of the Amilcar Cabral submarine cable project consortium and approve the report on the project’s Phase 1 study.

The objectives of this project are to increase international broadband capacity in the participating countries and to ensure redundancy for these countries by providing a single connection to multiple international submarine cables.

The meeting was opened on February 26, 2025, by Mr. HASSAN GAYE, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and the Digital Economy of the Republic of The Gambia, in the presence of Ms. VIOLETTA INSA, Consul General of the Kingdom of Spain in The Gambia, and Mr. KEBBA FYE, Acting Director of the PPDU, representing Mr. DOUKA SEDIKO, ECOWAS Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy, and Digitalization.
