August 12–13, 2025: Consultative Meeting on the Update of the ECOWAS Regional Infrastructure Master Plan

In approving the Regional Infrastructure Master Plan, the Conference of Heads of State requested that the ECOWAS Commission ensure the periodic review and updating of the Master Plan to take into account emerging priorities. To this end, the Regional Infrastructure Master Plan will be updated in 2026, and the ECOWAS Commission has initiated a consultation process with regional stakeholders
to carry out this task.

The ECOWAS Project Preparation and Development Unit (PPDU) organized a consultative meeting held in Accra, Ghana, on August 12 and 13, 2025. This meeting provided an ideal opportunity to refine the SDIR project selection criteria and review the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the recruitment of a consultant to revise the SDIR. The overall objective of the meeting was to review and validate the project selection criteria as well as the Terms of Reference for updating the Regional Infrastructure Master Plan, in order to reach a consensus on the Master Plan update process.

The meeting was attended by representatives of ECOWAS Member States, regional technical partners (such as OMVG) involved in infrastructure development, the ECOWAS Commission, the PPDU, and ECOWAS specialized institutions and agencies (WAPP, CGRE, CDGC).
